Hotel Costa Esmeralda Suites

Not a 5 star hotel Sadly this hotel doesn’t live up to its billing. I only stayed one night on the way to the ferry, intended as a treat after two weeks of touring. I wouldn’t come here again nor recommend it to others. Service is ok but staff seem to like to disappear from post all too often. The room I was in was cramped with a partially low ceiling above the bed meaning almost crawling into bed was necessary. Thin walls meant a late night listening to the TVs from adjacent rooms. Then the air conditioning stopped. Seems it’s on a two hour timer, waking up in the early hours sweating was the inevitable consequence. Opening the window to cool the room revealed that the road was directly outside and very busy. Not a great nights sleep. Trying for a coffee before breakfast wasn’t possible, there’s no coffee maker, just a kettle and two teabags- no milk just creamer. The hotel is an unfortunate hotch-potch of poorly executed bad ideas. Like someone saw a list of things that a hotel should have but didn’t understand why. Then overlaid with a gaudy top coat of motor memorabilia. The hotel is more a Delorean than the Ferrari that it likes to think it is. It will appeal to some but not me.

This hotel exceeded my expectations, myself & my fiancé booked a 5 night stay as a little last minute holiday. We had never been to this part of Spain but it was actually the luxurious rooms of the suites we had seen online that appealed to us and the rave reviews of the food which I’m happy to say were all true! We don’t speak Spanish very well and were a little embarrassed about this as this particular region of Spain is mostly locals and Spanish speaking people and we were worried of looking ignorant however the staff of the hotel and the surrounding bars & restaurants couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly to us and made us feel very welcome. The level of care from every member of staff we encountered was amazing they truly did all they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible, 5 star service indeed ⭐️! We loved the hot tubs in the room, the well stocked mini bar, the pool side bar with its amazing food & drinks, the dinners in the hotel restaurant were unbelievably delicious and they played great music too, the hotel gym was another favourite spot of ours given we’re both big gym go-ers the lighting & equipment was top notch. We loved the very private pool area (even though the weather wasn’t super warm & the pool is not heated) this did not stop myself & my fiancé - both from chilly Scotland 🥶😂 from jumping in and out of the lovely pool! We had a really great stay and would just like to send our gratitude to the amazing staff they truly made our stay so special. We will always remember them so thank you!! And we highly highly recommend staying here our favourite hotel we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at 🥰

The devil is in the details. In a 5* hotel those are the ones that form the opinion and the will to comeback or to avoid. You’re provided with a welcome cocktail which is a nice detail. The swimming pool area is nice and the hotel decoration is thematic and nice. Here the good things end. In a 5* hotel you expect to find a coffee maker and a good selection of teas in the room. Here we’ve found 2 cups and 2 teabags of the cheapest possible tea. No coffeemaker, no welcome snack. The rooms are nice but the furniture starts to get quite worn out. The restaurant in the basement should think to change the chef asap: the meat (costillas) was cold and we asked to warm it, what returned was a piece of meat completely burnt and impossible to eat. When the menu contains only 2 main dishes maybe it makes sense to try to cook at least those two with excellence. The quinoa salad was good. Desserts were very average. Not to come back.

This Hotel is just wauw. We stay unfortunately only on night with our baby but is was a very nice stay. The hotel rooms (suites) are nice, clean and super spacious. The whirlpool in the room was so nice and relaxing after a day at the beach. It worked perfectly and has enough space for 3 people. The staff is nice and friendly and they all love children :). A night prior our stay the reception called me up and asked me if we need a baby bed. The beach and all restaurants are only 5 minutes by walk reachable. The breakfast buffet is ok and has a lot if choice. Hopefully we can come back for another time
